Katrien started practising yoga in March 2018. Growing up with ballet and tap dance, she chose art school at 16 to eventually run her own prêt à porter label and compete at the highest level of the Belgian fashion scene with presentations in Paris, London, Milan and Berlin. Until in 2017 her body suddenly said stop and she had to put her ambitions and career on hold.
Attracted by the AUM sign that hung on the front door of Antwerp Yoga at the time, she walked into the school. After a nice first meeting she was sweating the next day in her first Vinyasa basic class. When after the class her teacher said 'Happy I could put a smile on your face' she was not only sold but had a brief summary of what yoga still does with her. It puts a smile on her face.
Fascinated by the abstract expressive form language inherent in the asana practice, she finished the Teacher Training at Antwerp Yoga in 2020. Preparing and giving a lesson is for her the same as drawing a collection. As with my collections, I start from an emotion that I translate into forms with the human body as centerpoint.
Yoga is meditation in movement. The moment you stand on your mat, you let go of everything and can only be. That is what Katrien wants to teach in her lessons.
