FAVOURITE QUOTE :
"When perfection, would be taken away from perfection, perfection remains." To śānti mantra from the ḹśāvāsya Upaniṣad

Under his gentle pressure you perform to the maximum. Teune is a facilitator with whom you can travel far on the yoga mat. With him you will explore your potential and push your limits safely, in a heartfelt way. Teune teaches according to the ancient traditions. Devotion and depth is what touches you during his classes. Your knowledge and skills will grow organically.

Teune has been obsessed with yoga for half his life. His path of development began with Ashtanga and he travelled the world to experience this practice in its authentic form. His love for the therapeutic aspect of yoga led him to Thailand where he fell under the spell of the Thai yoga massage. He is now a dedicated practitioner and teacher of this healing combination of yoga, massage and acupressure.

After ten years of teaching yoga to large and small groups, the popular yoga teacher decided to focus exclusively on teaching Ashtanga yoga through the Mysore style. The idea behind this is that after years of yoga practice, you reach a ceiling in the group teaching format. Thanks to the in-depth learning trajectory of the Mysore style, Teune sees his students not only start more safely, but also progress endlessly in the various series. The fact that through the Mysore method you also tackle your mental obstacles and transform your lifestyle gives Teune immense satisfaction.

Teun's fascination and admiration for the Indian yoga and Thai massage traditions is boundless. He is fortunate to have been able to spend a lot of time alongside prominent teachers. He regularly travels to Asia to be fed at the source. What has really shaped Teune as a person and a teacher is the student and assistantship of Homprang Chaleekanha, one of Thailand's most renowned healers. Teune is one of the handful of students who received Homprang's permission to teach her massage techniques.

Mysore is also a favourite study destination. In the south of India, Teune further deepens and develops his practice under the watchful eye of SharathJi, grandson of the vidwan Pattabhi Jois. In addition to yoga asanas, he focuses on Indian philosophy, mantra and Sanskrit with Lakshmish Baht. Teune is a KPJAYI level 2 authorised teacher.

Apart from the names above, there are more yoga spirits that have made Teune the sincere, sympathetic teacher he is today. A number of Ashtanga teachers were important sources of inspiration in the early days and he assisted Urban Flow founder Rusty Wells around the world for a few years. After his first yoga training with Patrick and Gösta of Svahayoga Amsterdam, Teune worked for many years at AntwerpYoga, as an instructor and right hand of founder Elsie Matthijssens. In 2017 he started Ashtanga Yoga Antwerp, the first yoga school in 't Stad that focuses exclusively on the Ashtanga method. Meanwhile, his studio has merged with AntwerpYoga and Teune guides the original Mysore programme here.

Besides teaching, he spends much of the day studying and practising yoga. At the moment, he is diving deep into the yogic scriptures through Veda chanting with Shantala Sriramaiah (Vedastudies, Brussels). Being curious, discovering and investigating, it is Teunes nature. For that reason alone, he will always continue to learn. In the role of a teacher, he hopes to be a mate for you, passing on the best of what he learns authentically and according to tradition.
