FAVOURITE QUOTE :
"Meditation is still what you think." Jon Kabat Zinn

Bart has been involved in sports since childhood. He practised athletics and aikido for a few years, and from the age of 7 to 31 he played water polo (in the first national league). Subsequently, he also did triathlon for a few years and has been cycling all his life.

The fascination for the body also translated into his choice of study: biomedical sciences at the University of Antwerp. At the age of 24, he came into contact with Ashtanga yoga and was immediately sold. The combination of body and mind was new to him and gave him a different perspective on the body. When a year later, rather by chance, he was asked to replace a class he found it pleasant to share his experience and knowledge with others. As a result, he continued to do so. Over the years he has studied with Anthony (Prem) Carlisi and Patthabi Jois. Nancy Gilgoff, one of the first students of Patthabi Jois, taught him a lot about adjustments in order to have the right tools to help you get the most out of your poses.

Bart is a real ancient in our shala, as he has been teaching at Antwerp Yoga since day one and was also involved in the start-up.

His passion and knowledge for the human body and helping people is still growing. Since a few years, he also gives in our studio Thai oil massages, Swedish and sports massages, cupping-vacussage, trigger point massage and medical taping.
